Immediately after the order placement, our Engineering team reviews the Engineering
inputs provided by the Customer such as Basic Engineering package and prepares a
design basis for subsequent engineering work to be carried out. This enlists all
process parameters, design conditions, relevant codes to be followed and any other
stipulations of client and of the specific contract.
The Engineering groups of L&T as above, consists of a large number of highly
qualified, trained and experienced staff in various engineering disciplines required
by the project. These groups are equipped with state-of-the-art computer hardware
and software and the same is used for the development of designs and providing
assistance during engineering phase. Specifications, drawings, quality requirements,
Bill of Materials and other documents are released by the Engineering group for
the project team to carry out other execution activities.
The interaction of the engineering groups with the other members of the task
force are integrated through the SAP R/3 ERP package which permits
instantaneous release of the engineering documents in electronic form for
downstream personnel to take further action. The interaction of the home office
with the site offices also takes place through the electronic media
via dedicated V-SAT links established to our individual site offices.
